Getting Started
1. View Your Hosting Space
To assist you in moving your site to our servers we have provided a special link to your web site space. Please type the following into your browser's Address/Location - replacing the SERVER-NAME with the server assigned to you and replacing USERNAME with your username - do not use capital letters:

http://SERVER-NAME.inmotionhosting.com/~USERNAME/

You will see our welcome message - if you have any trouble please refer to your Account Information Email - it contains your exact link.

Uploading/Publishing Your Web Site to Your Hosting Account
Next we need to move your current web site from your computer to your web hosting account with InMotion.

Most webmasters use a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program to move their web site to their new account. If you use Microsoft Frontpage to design your site you will need to use it to publish your site as well.

Remember that you can review your site through the temporary link explain in Step #1.

Setup Email Accounts
This step can be done at the same time as Step #2. Setting up an email account is a two step process - first we will set up an account within your control panel then setup your computer to check that account.

After completing the setup in your control panel we need to configure your email program. Please choose from the applicable programs.

*KEY* - You will NOT recieve email in these accounts until you complete step #4 - but it is best to have them setup prior to Step #4 to assure proper delivery.

Update Your Domain Name's Registrar Records
This step is only necessary if you purchased a domain name from someone other than InMotion Hosting.

The company you purchased your domain name from controls where your domain name points to. In order to use your new web space you must tell your Registrar where your new web hosting account is located. In Internet lingo, you need to change your name servers at your registrar.

Before going to your Registrar's web site you will need the following information:

  • Name Server 1: ns.inmotionhosting.com
  • Name Server 2: ns2.inmotionhosting.com

If you do not know who your Registrar is you can look them up here .

If you do not have your login information for your Registrar you will have to contact them directly - all good Registrars will have a place to recover your username and password for your domain name.

*KEY* - After completing this step it will take from 24 to 72 hours for your Registrar to tell the rest of the world that you have a new hosting account. Please continue to check your old hosting account for email until this time has past.
